The PP512 was designed to fold up and be hung on a wall for easy storage. Every element of the chair, from the handles to the indentation on the stretcher, was informed by these functional requirements. |

がひらく椅子なら、次はとじる椅子です。 フォールディングチェア という名前の通り、折りたたみ椅子です。 ウェグナーはきっと機能を折りたたんで、美しい一羽の鶴をおりあげることができる匠の手をもっているのでしょう。 ひろげた時の姿はもちろん、たたんで壁に掛けた姿がこれまた美しいのです。 もちろん専用のフックもデザインしています、横貫（下部の横棒）の中央部がフック掛けです。 この椅子は、背も座も籐で編まれています。古代エジプトでは籐でスツールが編まれ、日本でも平安時代に弓などの武具に使われてきました。その歴史はたいへん長く、人々に愛され続けてきたのですが、最近は質の良い籐が次第に入手困難になってきているそうです。 ここで、ひさしぶりにクイズを一題。 いままで「６４ＣＨＡＩＲＳ」に折りたたみ椅子は何脚登場したでしょうか？ デザイナーと椅子の名前まで答えられるあなたは、もう相当な椅子マニアです。 |

The seats and backs are woven directly onto the chairs and are a story of their own. 'A year ago I was visited by a young man who wanted very much to weave Wegner chairs', explains Ejnar Pedersen. 'I sent him one to see what he could do. We spoke only about quality, not about price.' This led to good cooperation. |
