The back of the chair has pronounced joints in venge. It recalls us the national flag of Denmark. Its seat can be finished and upholstered before being mounted on to the frame. The natural leather is tanned using natural products, the vegetable tanning agents giving the leather its special smell and exclusive quality, in harmony with the traditional good workman-ship which characterizes classical Danish furniture. |

すっと伸びた金属製の脚に、職人技によってなめされた革の座、そして
デンマークの国旗
を彷彿させる十字のちぎりが印象的な笠木。
ほんとうにシンプルでありながら、それぞれの素材が美しいハーモニーを奏でる。
ウェグナーは、数多い自身のデザインした椅子の中で、この
PP701
がもっともお気に入りというのも納得できる気がします。
私たちは、ともするとピーコックチェア、バレットチェア、フープチェアなど、印象的な椅子に目を奪われがちです。しかし、この椅子のシンプルさ、使いやすさ、立ち姿の美しさ・・・彼の心の中では、きっと力をいれずに、自然に、素直にできたデザインなのでしょう。長年かかって彼がたどりついた、一つの結論がこのPP701に結晶されているのだと思います。彼の自宅には、ペンダントに照らされた丸いダイニングテーブルを取り囲むように置かれています。
